I really like those wheels. I've never seen any like them anywhere. Anybody know something about them?

I think the bike should have been left just as it came from the last race and put in a museum. Just my opinion.

Wheels aren't familiar to me; they remind me of the older Kaw style racing wheels but their "I" beam wasn't quite as pronounced. (Might be the pic, though)

It's a beauty for sure!

This was posted not too long ago when it was up for sale previously. It didn't sell then.
It's the original Dave Degens built Isle of Man TT racer which has been 'road-ified'.

Campy or CMA wheels. CMA wheels arent pictured, but look identical to the Campy's.

That's a beautiful classic with an awesome history. Since eBay sales don't last forever I captured the pics in our Naked Wings gallery.

Honda Goldwing Road Registered Race Bike

Date of 1st Registration: May 01, 1978

Built for Honda UK in the early 1970s by Dave Degans of Dresda Motorcycles. Race frame, Honda front and rear end, CMA wheels, big valve tuned 1000cc engine.

Raced on the Isle of Man by Hugh Evans, recording a lap of over 110 mph. Run under the Biggin Hill Race Team banner by Team Mocheck. Registered in 1978 and used on the road for many years.

Last MOT’d in 1999 at 41,382 miles recorded and less than 100 miles use since. Cam belt changed at 40,000 miles.

Generally in very good condition, but requires some light recommissioning and an MOT for road use. The engine turns freely with a good spark, but does not fire. We suspect that the fuel system needs cleaning.

From an eBay sale that ends 4 Feb 2010.

I see many people think it should be in a museum. To my point of view that would be a shame, if its still a goer, thats what it should be doing, at least once in a while, Randakk would be the man.
There is the same debate about warbirds and historic aircraft, to fly them is to take a real risk of losing them, and the pilots.

Had another good look at the photos and decided again it not the bike for me, never mind the head down riding position that hurts my neck. With those angled back clipons it would have minimal turn circle, and being much closer together than standard I think would make such a heavy bike a pig to ride slow in traffic, which is where we spend half our time in the UK. I rode my friends Royal Enfield Constellation with clipons like that in the 1960,s and did not enjoy it.
And last but not least, my other half would go into melt down.

Yes, while I agree she is a PITA to ride on the street, getting this bike into historic racing would be a hoot. So if that option is out there, then that is where she belongs.

I find it somewhat odd that the frame and countless other bits are completely custom, yet they couldn't be bothered to mill the handlebar stands off the tree top!

I want a set of those Marzocchi shocks. Saw some on a wing once, and thought about stealing them.
