Hi everyone new to this great website

I wish I had found website this before..
I bought a basket case GL1000 with a seized engine two years ago from a guy in Myrtle beach. Made in 3/75 bike #5000. Because the motor was seized and he had no title I paid $200 for it. It had no fenders, exhaust, front brakes, seat , headlight ears had rotted out and fork tubes had rusted through and it was covered in sand.
I stripped the motor down (water in the engine, took a week to get one piston to move) and had it rebored, new pistons, chains, bearings etc.
The frame was very rusty underneath so I had it powered coated. after the rebuild with new wiring harness handlebar switch es. I started to rebuild the carbs but found one had completely rotted out. I then got some decent ones of ebay and with the Randakks rebuild kit and lots of cleaning rebuilt them. The rubbers for the carb were missing so I 3D printed some new ones out of flex filament. Many rubber grommets' were missing so I 3D printed them also.
My buddy is a manager in an Auto Body shop and we found the new Jeep blue/Green to be an almost perfect match to the original paint. He did the paint and decals.
All in all I think I have about $4500 in it, and countless hours but its been rewarding restoring this beauty!
