Post by gigmaker »

Greetings from Colorado Springs, CO. I just acquired this darling from an old timer bike mechanic and looking forward to stripping it down.

I'm wondering what you all would do with it? Side bags are definitely going. New seat maybe?

Fortunately, mechanically it seems perfect. [Knocks wood]

I would ride it for a couple of weeks before making changes. Your ideals may change. Very nice looking bike.

Welcome from Wisconsin. As Al suggested, ride it for a bit too get a feel for what you want. From the looks of it, the rack/ bags/ back rest and windshield would be easily re-mounted if desired. The seat isn't stock, and original replacements can be pricy. If it's comfy and you like the looks of it keep it.

Cliff's suggestion of changing the timing belts is right on target as well. If you don't know when/ if they've been replaced, do it. You'll get to know the bike a little, and it's cheap insurance on these 'interference' engines.
