Hello and thanks in advance for all the help!

Hi All,
I've been lurking for a while for all the prime intel this site has to offer, but now that I've officially dived into nudism I figured it was time to post an introduction.
Over the last few years I've become pretty obsessed with older Honda motorcycles, and I now have a stable full of (mostly) future projects. I've also developed a habit of long-distance one-way touring (aka buying a bike far from home and riding it back), which has worked out fairly successfully so far, and is how I first caught wing fever (I bought a GL1200 on the Gaspe peninsula of Quebec and rode it home through northern New England), and my favourite kind of riding is multi-day moto-camping.
Ever since a friend and fellow forum member got a '75 GL1000 running and made it look so cool on a number of rides and trips, I have been lusting after a first generation wing for myself. After one false start (a '78 that turned out to be seized beyond rescue), I picked up a yellow '76 this past weekend. Wish me luck...

Nudism, huh?

Well, enjoy the ride - and the company of like minded acquaintances (I think)...

I think he meant Hondaism, a doctrine that enlightenment can be attained through wrenching on vintage Honda motorcycles.

welcome from the east coast. that would have been a great ride on the 1200..
It was amazing. From the Gaspe through New Brunswick to Maine, then the White Mountains of New Hampshire and the Green Mountains of Vermont. Would have been even better, but for a bike/rider separation at speed in the Adironadacks. But no one wants to hear about that...

I’m surprised you would still consider a trip where that happened amazing.

I was about four days into the trip, which in this super-connected world seems to be how long it takes for all the mental shackles and worries to fall away. The bike and I had gotten to the point where we'd figured each other out, I was thousands of miles from home and if I wanted go down one road instead of another, I just did. No one to ask or check with. Pure freedom.

The quote in your signature about inattention sums it up perfectly. It was late afternoon, I was done riding for the day and was ready to find a camping spot. Took a wrong turn outside Lake Placid, was looking around for a good spot to turn around, and then all of a sudden I found myself in a corner and tracking a line that was much better suited to going straight. Dumped as much speed as I could, but the 1200's brakes are linked so the pedal still grabs a good deal of front brake and when the front wheel hit the gravel shoulder, she flopped onto her side and I went over the bars, upside down. Not a perfect landing.

Shortly thereafter I was offered a free helicopter ride back to Vermont, and since I had just passed through some of the most beautiful riding country I've ever seen in that state, I took them up on their offer. But I did lose most of the rest of the riding season on account of the broken collarbone and ribs.

The Aspencade, bless her, did far better than I did. Some scrapes and a lost mirror, but otherwise good to go once i finally had her shipped back to me.

welcome to NGW. my only over the handlebar flight was due to a lady crossing the highway in front of me. Broken collarbones and ribs are no fun!
