Hey guys! So i just bought my first motorcycle today! Yay!! Having some starting problems but hopefully ill be able to get it sorted out! Anyways its great to be here and join your wonderful forums. So i also have a small question that i can drop in my introduction here. Do any of you guys know what this little switch on my faux fuel tank is for? I've done some looking around but i cant seem to find any information about it. I probably should have asked the guy i bought it from.... lolol

Turns out it was a semi hooked up piranha nitrous system! I'm not quite to sure if it is illegal, but i do know that if i were to get into an accident while using it there will be alot more repercussions. nothing was actually connected to the fuel line it was kind of just sitting inside the faux gas tank, Just the brackets, the fuel line and the empty bottle, the wires were literally just sitting ontop of the bottle doing nothing. :( But still an interesting find! Anyways heres some pictures of the bike while it was still together!

Welcome from Wisconsin. I'm kind of partial to the 1100's, myself. If you're new to the Wing family, check out the 'new 2you' thread linked in my signature. Lots of great info on what to look out for and what you might want to check over before getting out on the highway.
As to the switch, it's definitely not stock. I can make an educated guess, however. It's not uncommon for the radiator fan switch to fail (it's thermal switch that turns the fan on and off in a specified temp range) and rather than replacing it a toggle switch is often wired in. Not the best solution, IMhO.
A switch to operate add-on running or driving lights is another possibility.
Your best bet to figure it out (aside from asking the p.o.) would be to trace the wires and see where they lead. There's a downloadable wiring diagram file for your specific bike on the ShopTalk page that will probably come in handy.
Happy wrenchin'

Hey Gord! I live in a small town just outside of London Ontario, St.Thomas Ontario..... Its a crappy place to live.... Had someone literally rup off my rear end from my XT225, Stole my breaklight, Plates, and turning signals. The dude didnt even care, It wasnt bolted on beause i was working on the rear end, But he literally just cut the wires with a knife and ran out of my shop with it lol.

Anyways thanks for the welcome! Im glad to be here, and apart of such a wonderful community!

Hey Speed!

Thanks for the welcome! I hope so, I asked by buddy and he said its possible i could be charged with transporting chemicals without a license or something like that. Plus the increase in insurance it would cost.... Im alright and want to remove it ASAP lmao.

You live in Ont so anything is possible but drag racers have been using it for years..so I highly doubt you would be charged with anything..unless you charge the system and it the warp drive button. lol

I have NOS on my 78, and have crossed the border from Michigan to Ontario several times. Had conversation with border folks, in both directions. Mostly about when I use it, and how does it work, etc. I have never been told the bottle was illegal on either side of the border

How much do you hit the engine with cyborg and is the engine stock?
Just curious..I don't need more power..I'm quite capable of dumping the bike in stock form. lol

I don't need more power eather. The only engine mod is copper head gaskets, recommended by a famous drag racer, who advised me on the system. It's a single stage system. Feeding the air manifold after the air filter. originally I fed each cyl. at the bottom of the runners at the head. However I was not happy with that. The NOS did not have enough distance to properly mix with the extra fuel, and I didn't like the extra plumbing. The whole thing was done just to see if I could. I rarely use it. If used for to long a period, it can really be hard on the engine. Or so I've been told. It is the original engine, and has a lot of miles on it. And I'm not as young as I once was.
