Greeting from Panama City, Florida

#1

Post by Jkdillard »

Hello all. I am new to motorcycles and picked up a 1980 standard gl1100 and a 1982 gl1100 interstate. Neither are running at the moment but I have all the parts to get them going. Currently I am riding a 96 cb250. She's a fun little bike. As for the 2 gl1100s, I plan to get the 80 running first then work on the 82. I fell in love with the 80 when i first saw its picture. Eventually I would like to break her down and get her painted and fix some of the rusty chrome. But for now I'm just going to get her running.

Welcome from Wisconsin. I'm kind of partial to the 1100's, myself. While it looks like you've got your work cut out for you, I think you'll find the effort is well worth it! The best advice I can give you (other than pidjones' above) is take your time and work on one thing at a time. Nothing's more daunting or discouraging than a pile of parts that used to be a motorcycle, lol!

Welcome to the 'Wingdom.

Fork brace is a useful addition .... looks like a Markland .... good period correct aftermarket piece.

Check Randakk’s Site for good installation instructions ....
