Hoping y'all can help me with my GL1500

Post by jtspott »

Good Evening and thanks for the add!
I have a 1992 GL1500 Interstate that I acquired after it had been wrecked. To make a long story short the main damage was to the plastics and my thoughts were to strip this beast down to bare minimum and see what I wound up with in the end. Sooo....... before doing any research and assuming that the ignition (timing) was going to be "standard" I have the entire harness off the bike and went to build back up when I realized that I might have just bit off more than I was planing on. Is there a way to easily get spark to the plugs without the ECM? I don't want all the sensors and safeties, and wasn't even planning on going out of the way to keep reverse. I just want the motor running sooner than later. Thanks in advance for your help with my dilemna

We'll try. Welcome aboard by the way. It may be better to start a thread in the tech section. That is better suited for questions.

Thanks to both of you, and I will start a thread in the tech section. I got trigger happy and honestly didn't even pay attention to anything other than the fact that I was finally starting this discussion where there are Wing Experts to assist the beginner.

Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

Ya'll got the best GL1500 links going on here, especially like PedroTQ's posts. He is very thorough and very adventurous.
