Fresh meat!

#1

Post by Nomad458 »

Hey all, new to the forum, been working on bikes since I was eight. Currently I have a 78 GL1000 I call Redwing, it's in slow progress. I'm riding and currently painting, and necessary maintenance on my 80 GL1100.

I found this place looking for part swap information. I mostly am looking for wheel swap info for the 80 GL1100. I have already swapped spokes for the comstars on the 78, but am kicking around spokes 83 mags, or I was told some Harley Davidson wheels would fit on the front. I've seen one that was solid bullet that looked epic on a wing.

I haven't seen a thread for wheel interchangeability, but I've seen posts here and there. Can any one steer me to a thread for that if we have one?

Welcome from Wisconsin. I don't think there's one specific thread on wheel interchangeably, unfortunately. Almost every swap seems to need some type of modification and/ or additional parts swapping, like brake components, swing-arms, etc. Sagebrush has a build thread several years old where he swapped '83 wheels onto an earlier 1100. IIRC, it required using the '82-83's swing arm for clearance, among other changes.
