Post by DustHunter »

Hey there from Tulsa

This my first Goldwing and I am in love.
I just picked this up Saturday and done nothing but ride it since. I have so many questions and cannot wait to put my mark on this beauty. I look forward to soaking up knowledge from ya'll!

Welcome from Wisconsin! Looks like a good solid runner. It's also had a good bit of work done to it, from what I can see in one pic, lol. As mentioned above, changing the timing belts should be at the top of your to-do list. There's a link in my signature to a great thread for new Wing owners, too.
Just an FYI, there are a few things on your ride that aren't original to a 78-79 which you need to be aware of if you're going to be in need of parts. From what I can see, the front wheel is from a later year Wing (80-81, or 82), which could mean that the brake calipers, forks, and triple tree may also be not original. The front master cylinder looks to be an aftermarket unit, as well. I'm not saying these are bad things, it's just important to be able to identify what you're working with so you're not chasing your tail, lol!
Good luck, and enjoy the ride!

DustHunter, welcome: I'm new here as well, and so far I can tell you that it's a bunch of good natured, helpful people.
