Hi from Durham, NC. Joined to get out of GL1000 stuff.
So, my dad was friends with Randall Washington before he started Randakk's. My dad was all about buying junk bikes and restoring them, and he amassed a large amount of GL1000 parts to this end. Unfortunately, he died about 10 years ago. Though I have the same love for restoring bikes that my dad did, I've come to realize I really have no real desire to own, build, or ride a GL1000. The GL1000 stuff was a late-in-life dream of his... I'd rather spend my time working on my own projects - I just have too many of my own to deal with, and I've been holding onto this project just because it was his dream. But it was never mine. So I joined here in the hopes that someone in central NC would want to buy the lot off of me for cheap.
I'm not some scammer, mind you. I used to own and operate cx500forum.com and tw200forum.com, and I use the ChopperCharles username on multitudes of different motorcycle forums (though I'm mostly on advrider these days).
Basically, I have a titled frame, 3 or 4 motors, 2 or 3 racks of OEM carbs, an OEM seat in mint condition, a redkoated gas tank, and boxes and boxes and boxes of parts. More parts than goes to one bike. (I think there are 5 sets of bodywork in total, for instance). All the parts are at my place in durham, as is one of the motors and one of the carb racks. The rest of the motors and carbs are in Knightdale at my mom's house.
I'm willing to take any reasonable offer. Mostly I want it to go to a good home, and to get it out of my garage. I can take pics this weekend. I think I've also got an SOHC CB750 motor at my mom's place that I'd part with as well.
Life is just getting in the way, and I'd rather work on the projects that mean something to me before I'm too old and someone has to sell off all my accumulated parts.
Charles.

Odd as it may seem, I would be interested in an OEM seat

Re: Hi from Durham, NC. Joined to get out of GL1000 stuff.
So I pulled everything down out of the attic and organized it.That took forever. Then I photographed and enumerated as much as I could. Finally I packed it all into boxes, and put it all at the front of my garage, waiting for someone to buy it all. I separated some things to sell individually too.
I guess I'll make a few more posts so I can list it all in the for sale section.
