Welcome and congrats!
You've got a beautiful example of a "survivor" LTD!
Did you by any chance get the tool kit and (rare as hen's teeth) key fob?
Both items were unique to the LTD.

Thanks Johnny. I might fit in. Been an engineer for over 30 years. Currently doing time at Intel. As we gear up our season, I'll keep that in mind. Always looking for more riding pals. Seems the old guard isn't always on the same frequency. So, get that '76 online and we'll ride...although my '78 needs some love first. I may be on another mount 'til then.
Desertrefugee,

I'm an equal opportunity motorcyclist. My other two bikes are 2005 ZZR1200 and a 2001 ZRX 1200R. I live in east Mesa so every weekend I do turn around rides to Tortilla Flats and then stop for coffee on the way home. Great way to start the day! Send me a PM if that works for you.

Hi Al,

I pick up the bike the end of October. I believe my cousin bought the bike new, so with any luck it'll come with the tool kit and key fob. I plan on posting pictures of everything once I get back to AZ.

changing timing belts is not hard at all, check out chop talk on "how to" about that and a lot of other things as well.

I've been going through the NEW2U thread. I plan on reading the timing belt thread multiple times but I still plan on having my mechanic do that work. I'll watch but I'll sleep easier knowing he's done the work. He's also going to clean and rebuild the carbs. Most everything else I think I can handle.

carbs.... no there is an issue.... Unless the mechanic has a lot of experience with older Hondas.... once again, not really all tat hard, but we have also heard horror stories of people not knowing what they are doing and using knock-off and inferior rebuild kits. Someone who really knows GL carbs will cost you $450-500 (last I looked).... randakk MAKES THE BEST KITS opps I was yelling

I have rebuilt a couple, it just takes being OCD. Robin is a sponsor of our site and does great work... I had him rebuild the heads on my 78

I am a new rider first time bike owner and although I've never worked on a bike I've been working on my own vehicles since I was 17.
following the great advice here I changed the timing belts on my 76, rebuilt the idler bearings and using Randakk's kit and dvd rebuilt the carbs.
the bike even started after all that.
if you like tinkering, give it a go.

...I can help. Mostly. As long as the garage is less than 100F.

I'm already making a list of what I need from Randakk's and the carb kit is at the top of the list. I'll read through it and the thread on this site and see how I feel about it afterwards.

Desertrefugee, I'll take you up on your offer. By the time I get the bike back to AZ, the temps will be below 100 degrees!
