1975 Naked GL1000, Newest Addition!
Greetings guys and gals! Well, I'll do my best to keep it short, but I do tend to babble. First off....I'm an avid vintage Honda collector with the following in the collection. 1973 DB350 Four, 1974 CL200 (One Year Only Bike!!), 1975 CB125S, 1978 CM185T Twinstar and lastly, the newest addition, a 31,000 mile 1975 GL1000.
I've been looking for a stout road bike for some time and I had three on my list to look out for. Early CB750, Early CB900 or a Naked GL1000. The GL came to me like it was meant to be and the price? Well...we'll not get into that, but if I found 2 more for the same price, I would just break a grand out of pocket. Yep...pretty much stole it, but it IS a project bike that DOES run! It was ratted out by the previous owner. So just cosmetics. It came with a Vetter faring, but that will NOT be going on the GL. At least, not before I have some seat time.
I could elaborate on all that it needs to be road worthy, but a running Early Production GL1000 for chump change allows me plenty of room to invest the money and time into it to bring it back to its original glory. It was the burgundy (don't have the paint codes in front of me, so don't shout at me for not quoting the correct color lol). It came with a TON of new parts and it essentially was a running riding bike until the owner began a process of putting short Ape hangars on it, which...are going away and I have the original bars, controls, grips etc. I am the 3rd owner, and most likely it's last owner until I'm gone. If I don't insist it's buried with me that is lol.
Thanks for listening to me ramble on and thanks for the opportunity to join this Forum! I look forward to meeting all of you. When I begin the resurrection process, you all can follow the progress on my YouTube Channel "ZippoVarga" where I already have over 800 videos on small engine repairs and motorcycle related content. Cheers All!!! Zip~ I'll attach photos when I figure out how to insert them!

Re: 1975 Naked GL1000, Newest Addition!
Heya Gang...Well....Inserting photos has me stumped here. Do I first have to upload to a secondary web sight like PhotoBucket? Lets give this a try....Remember...I'm a NEWBIE! And I remember having to do this on OLD Chat forums, so hopefully my memory won't fail me here. Catching up with the times may be in order to make the forums more user friendly...just saying and I know, I KNOW...it's a pain. But this hearkens back to the early 2000's folks! lol
As you can see, the old Bird needs some cleaning up and TLC, but rides strait and true and is unmolested. The ONLY thing a previous owner did was to install an on off headlight switch. No biggie. 43,000 miles. Needs timing belts and a valve adjustment and I'll also go through the brakes, cooling system, check the valve seals while I'm in the cases and also I'll change out the cam seals while I'm knee deep into it. This is 1975 GL1000 #2...the first is a complete parts bike that I emptied out my ashtray change to get with title. Just an FYI to you guys and gals...Get Hagerty Insurance!!! They are covering THIS Bike for $7,000 and an additional $750 in PARTS for the bike!! Zero Deductible as well!! So...This isnt' a merch plug...it's just common sense with these collectible vintage bikes. Cheers! Zip~
