GL1200 stripped/custom

#1

Post by montanabob »

Hi all. I have owned my 1986 GL1200 Interstate for 18 years, most of that time we were living in Montana doing alot of long distance riding. Having moved out here to Washington a few years back, I mainly use the bike for just commuting to work. At first I was going to sell the Wing and get something smaller, but then I came across this site! Hey my Wing is paid for, it's got plenty of power, only 60,000 miles on her - so why not customize her into what I want? So far I've stripped off all of the plastic, purchased a tank cover from a 1984 GL1100, modified the mufflers. I have a LOT of wiring to shorten/remove/modify. I'll be scouring the site for info on parts. What an awesome winter project!
