Just joined from Minnesota

#1

Post by Doolin05 »

Hey everybody, I'm pumped I found this site. I picked up a 1980 gl1100 this summer and have been replacing the usual stuff I.e. Belts, oil seals, water pump, wheel, bearings, brake redoes and new lines, rear shocks, fuses etc ...now to get rid of the windjammer and trunk. Where to start, I quess with the headlight and front signal....mine also looks like someone went after the signal mounts with a hacksaw...I wonder if the dealers did that back in the day when they put the windjammer on?
Anyone have a suggestion for a headlamp and front signals?

Thanks for any help!!

We are glad to have you here. It was typical for the dealers to saw the turn sig mounts off when putting a vetter on. Replacements are tough to come by, but are out there. As I recall, the 750's had the same turn sigs.
I found the end of the internet

Welcome from the UK. I also have a 1980 GL1100 and enjoyed (most of the time) getting it back on the road, but wouldn't have been possible without the help from people on here. As soon as you can post some pictures.
