Hello members,
just thought I'd come in and say hello. Just bought a 1980 gl1100, and I'm loving it so far. Even though this is my first motorcycle. Yeah boy! Also I just did a carb overhaul with Randakks kit. Hope it turns out well. Will find out tomorrow after she is assembled. I will definitely be back after that and learn more from all the knowledge that so far has been a big help. dancr

Welcome to the site from the UK. Where are you from? Have you changed the timing belts? Most important thing first on these bikes. Post a bit more about yourself and your bike, and after 5 posts, (I think), you can add photos.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcomes. Glad to say I put the carbs back together and I was getting a leak from behind carb 2 to where it connects with the plenum. Which is weird cause I used all the o rings that came with Randakks kit. So I had to pull her out again and I noticed a passage through the carb to the plenum which totally looked like it needed an o ring. So sadly since I haven't rebuilt the petcock yet. I had to use those two o rings, which seem to fit perfectly. If anyone has seen Randakks kit, it's the o ring that is more squared off. Kinda looks like a tire shape, like you can roll it and it wouldnt tip over. Well anyways I installed again and it was perfect. Also just adjusted valves and now awaiting carb sync. Man this was a long post. Also I'm from the beautiful Pacific Northwest of Oregon.

I have not changed the timing belt yet. But I am on that before I ride her anywhere. Or here's a question. Should I change the belt even before I attemp to carb sync? Hummm

Change both belts. There's 2 timing belts. Identical belts. ;)
