Re: Hey folks
Well, I got my new progressive fork springs last week and the All Balls fork seals are arriving today (delivery confirmed!). A pair of EMGO shocks will be on my doorstep tomorrow as well. Suspension work doesn't look sexy but I am anticipating it will really improve the ride.

Re: Hey folks
So, the wing started up a couple times this spring but suddenly no joy. Solenoid clicks once, no starter motor action. Charged battery, nope, checked for hydrolock, nope, shorted solenoid, nope. Finally pulled the starter out and tried to bench test with good battery...nothing. Not even a spark. Ordered a new starter hoping that will be the end of it. Since I know a starter can be rebuilt, I figured I'd pull the bad o e apart just to see if I could pinpoint the failure and possibly rebuild it later when I have time and keep as a backup.
The end cap has some wear on it, looks like it's been roughed up a bit, but the screws that hold it all together came out surprisingly easy. To my surprise, that armature has numbers written on it, I'M guessing to indicate something to whoever rebuilt it the last time. So obviously this starter has been rebuilt at least once already. Anyone have any idea what the numbers might be for?

Re: Hey folks
Seems to be the problem of the week. I finally got the wiring done on my GL1000, hit Start button and just got a click from the solenoid. Did some checking and voltage on the output of the solenoid doesn't go up when I hit Start button, it just clicks. Next disconnected starter and the voltage jumps to 12.77 volts. Checked starter to ground - .05 Ohms (what my meter sees as a dead short). Guess it will have to come off soon, but right now there are no wheels on the bike so it will take some work to get it on the kickstand.

Re: Hey folks
Welcome Will!
Good wishes out to you on your project. Lots of very competent people here. I'm not one of them. But I did redo a 77GL...with lots of help from this forum. Inspire of the fact I'm ham fisted.
