Ta2Doc checking in...

#1

Post by Ta2Doc »

Greetings from Ky! Ta2Doc here. Been reading the forums for a while during my initial research into "what bike next". Long time rider of many makes but the only Honda products I've ridden are a 4x4 Rancher and an ST1300 (great bike).
After a 3-year hiatus from 2-wheelers, I started the search for something laid back, with a high cool factor for those of us at a certain age. The long story has a happy ending in the form of a "new" 1979 GL1000... Which I will be picking up 2 days hence.
She has a touch over 55k miles, Vetter-ized, Dyna-ized, with a pristine set of Hondaline cases and few other tasteful upgrades.
I'm really looking forward to getting back on the proper number of wheels, as well as learning more about these great machines.
Ride Safe!

New belt? Done.
Oil & Filter? Done.
Coolant, Rear Gear Oil, Rear Splines and Shaft Lube? Done.
Valve adjustment, Carb rebuild and sync? Done
Fork seals, springs, brake hoses, front brake pads and brake fluid? Done.
Brought her home today... idles beautifully. Sounds a bit "different" than others I've heard due to the large diameter turn-down exhaust. Kind of an even throaty blub-blub-blub-blub from the back with that awesome smooth opposed-cylinder sound up front.
Hopefully get a nice day this weekend for a real good check out... say 100 miles worth on some nice backroads.

I DO know that we could've used at least one more guider-and-pusher to get her loaded up! The good thing is that, from all I've seen, she shouldn't have to leap up on that trailer very often.

I'll clean the bugs off her nose and take a pic to upload for the profile.

Ride Safe All!
