GL1200 Hesitation Problem Video

#1

Post by Dr. Frankenstein »

Hi All; I was loafing around the house today - too darn cold to be in the garage - and Cody at Motorcycle MD has a video of the fix for the GL1200 hesitation problem, which I guess is 'normal' for that bike, and I thought you-all might be interested, so I thought I'd post it here, I hope that's cool:

He gets to the fairly simple 'cure' at 3:43 in the video - but I just thought I'd pass it along.

I'll be saving this for reference. Especially since I am currently working on a 1200. I will say that my previous 1200 did not seem to have this problem. No idea if the po did any modifications but it would lift the front wheel and easily top 100 mph. In all the years I owned that bike I never needed to touch the carbs.

An easier fix is to run with the choke slightly on. The 1200 choke enriches the fuel, not restricting the air..
