They showed a truck (lorry?) running on wood gasification in the Wartime Farm series. Pretty neat but the gasifier was much bigger than you would want to mount on a bike (maybe on a sidecar?)

I was involved in building a wood gasifier a long time ago.
We built one in the shop after racing season when it was slow. just to see if it worked.

I actually got an old wisconsin engine to run on it.
problem was, when the engine cooled off, the tar in the smoke would solidify in the intake
and glue the valves into the guides.

Not that tough to fix in a old flathead twin engine,
but not sure I'd want to deal with it regularly in a modern engine.

We had a short term member here about 2 years ago that was planning to build one for a Wing. I forget what happened but there were only a couple post about it as I recall. I only remember it because i had never heard about such a thing so I had to look it up some.

re: EV range & charge times, I liked the idea of swapping batteries vs. recharging. the whole idea kind of tapered off though.

and there seem to be some interesting/potentially promising new solid state battery technologies on the horizon. pioneered partly by the guy who brought us the Lithium Ion battery, John Goodenough.

I have a feeling it is the stylists that don't want to be constrained by having to make the bodywork fit around standard batteries....

one of the current (bad pun) issues with doing quick charges on an EV is that that kind of charging shortens battery life.

I met that guy when he stopped to pick up a fairing along the way. Impressive.

My sister's house roof is covered with solar panels and the house has one of the first of the V2G (vehicle to grid) charge points which Nissan have pioneered. Effectively, their Leaf costs them zero in energy costs and during the summer the National Grid pays them for the excess power their solar produces and also for the power which the car feeds back during periods of high demand on the Grid.

you have to love having panels. Last year we only had one month which was above the $9.20 monthly hooked to the grid fee

I’ve read those Nissan leafs Have been very dependable.
Small and range is not so good on older ones. But the batteries have been at 70 percent after 10-12 years.
