Rat, congrats on the new to you KLR. The do-hickey is not difficult - unless you happen to drop one of the small machined washers for the starter gear set and can't find it. The parts are cheap, however the tools are expensive (rotor puller and custom wrench) - see this guy's site - Eagle Mike. He sells complete kits with tools or just the parts.

You will get the Medal of Honor if you ride that thumper to the next NGW Rally!

KLR's are great motorcycles.
A friend bought one and rode it From Flagstaff to Fairbanks and back.
As soon as he got home he put his Harley up for sale and now only rides the dual sport.

It's cool to see that there are other Goldwing guys out there who also like their big thumper dirtbikes. action1

If your new President can get the Bug under control and the border open ...the Thumper and I will be there.
Took her on her first test ride today, about 4 hours of mixed roads and she performed admirably.

Windshield moved to the top of the list ...

Just back from a little 300 mile first trip on the KLR650 ... all on road stuff ... bike ran great, got most of the ergos sorted out ... pretty comfortable ride ... different but good, could do 300-350 a day on this bike.
Tried a little slab and while it’s doable it’s not my idea of fun riding (never was) ...

All in all I’m pretty happy ... this is a nimble bike ... can’t call it little even though it’s only about 1/2 the weight of a Wing because it’s so tall ... actually hard for me to throw a leg over ...

Ok Rat that's cool.
Since I'm slow, what did you mean by doing a slab?
Glad you like your new bike. Enjoy.

Roger, will do. Thanks.
Yes all quiet thus far.
Been married 36 years, she has threatened divorce for everyone of those years. My answer has always been, I made an oath till death do us part unless infadelity & we have no problems in that area. I also say, I'm not going anywhere no matter what. So, I leave it in her & God's hands. I'm husband #3, maybe I should have interviewed the other two.
I know I am hard to live with however. But I am honest to a fault and steadfastly honorable.
Yet, I screw up often.
