But what caused it to "drag" at TDC? If it was the carbon you would see where it was hitting/tight.

The whole top half of the leading edge of the Piston had at least 1/8“+ of old packed carbon, dirt, rust, whatever, restricting the smooth rotation at tdc, cleaned and put it all back together and all’s fine...

Still waiting for my cylinder and head to be ready, so I’m polishing out the case covers, I wasn’t going to do this at all but with all the virus crap going around it takes my mind off of it, hope everyone is safe out there..

Wow it’s been March since I last posted about this project, I ended up taking my cylinder and head to another machinest cause the first wasn’t doing anything, the second guy did it in 2 weeks, I put it all back together including clutch, wheel, head bearings fork seals, sprockets, chain, spit & polish, just working out bugs in the carb, next up is a 75 suzuki Indy GT550L 2 stroke

Haven’t rode it, bad tires, no title, starts up on the first kick, paid $600, it’ll go up on the lift late fall, until then I’m just riding bikes and tinkering.....

Hi. Mike here. I LOVE the SRX. sorry I sold mine years ago. I had a GB500 and SRX-6. both gone. I'd love to find another SRX....so if you ever sell..... :)\

Anyway: If I remember right, that 4K stumble is probably due to the sequential crossover from 1 carb to the other. I believe one carb is used for the lower RPM range, and the second for UPPER RPM range. If it had a supertrapp on it...the main jet may have been drilled causing an issue. IF not....it just may be lean at the crossover.....

Thanks Can’t see getting rid of it anytime soon, it took a long time to get this one, I can’t believe the book value on these bikes are so low For being a one year and Low production number and very hard to obtain, do you think the kick start only still has a negative effect? Are vintage bike book values realistic?

about values; only worth what someone will pay. Its an oddball. It doesn't have the following the GB500 does. Sort of like Honda ATC values vs. the Yamaha Tri Moto. essentially the same bike, but the ATC pulls more money. Not that either is really better than the other.

I like Benelli singles. Essentially same performance as the same year Ducati singles. both cost the same to restore. Benelli is actually harder, as there are virtually zero repop parts and used are very expensive. Put the 2 finished bikes side by side; the Ducati will pull twice or three times the $$ of the Benelli. Just because.

Enjoy the SRX. great machine! If I remember from riding mine, the front end is a little soft... as designed. Good luck!

Nice bike. I had a SR 500 for years. It was a lot of fun. I was younger then so didn’t mind kicking it. I wouldn’t want to have to do that now. Occasionally it would get stubborn and I’d have a hard time starting it.

Bike values are funny. It’s all a matter of what the trend is. I’ve got a 2009 Buell 1125cr. 1 of 3099 ever made. Can’t give them away. I traded a 2004 Buell XB 12s to a guy for the CR. I thought I stole it. The XB 12s’ have doubled in value. They are becoming quite sought after around here. I’ll just have to hang on to the CR until people start realizing what they are.

Good job on the SRX. It’s a beauty.
