I'm very stoked fellas after today's 80 mile ride out in west texas ranch country.
About 1 pm I finished putting my bike back together after retrieving my keys.
It was sunny without a cloud and 73 deg f. I warmed up ole blue, you know she's 43 yrs old. I rode out the 2 mile to ranch country went southwest on US 87 for ten or so miles @ 75-85 mph smooth as silk. Turned off twin Butte road to the marina park fir a first time look, beautiful buttes behind a nice lake. There were a few kids on quads. Got back on 87 to texas FR 2335 over to k Knickerbocker and stopped at the Cunningham ranch where I check on an elderly couple I know, Kate & Dob Cunningham. Stayed a half hr and chewed the fat. Then took gun road fir about 40 miles to texas ranch road 915. Along the way I saw alpacas, horses, deer, sheep, goats and cattle.
This time I practiced a lot of counter steering. Btw in that 40 miles I did not see a single car on the road with me.
The bike is becoming part of ne gradually. I'm developing good riding instincts but not getting cocky like I am with words. When I came upon the stream flowing across the road I decided that last time I was too slow so I hit it at 15 mph. Boy that was just wrong, last time I just got my left leg a little wet. This was more like a bow wave and I got drenched lol. No harm though and at the speeds I was riding me and my bike dried quickly.
Taking 915 SW I came upon us87 3 miles sw of Metson and stopped for fuel and refreshment. Sherriff came in and enquired about the bike and we talked a bit. He left, I finished the stuff I was not supposed to be eating and I rode the remaining 30 miles home. Much more calm and relaxed about it.
It was an awesome ride. But will have to be on my Indian as Ole blue is getting new parts this week as I have time between students.
Here are some pics

Your a lucky man. It’s cold up in the pacific northwest. To cold to ride for me. Beautiful country in Texas.
I would like to winter down there. Your bike looks great, glad she ran well for you.

Thank you for your kind words. I did not do a "holy" imaculant restore. I don't have the temperament to work that hard to get it in like new condition. But for me she is a beautiful bike, my first bike that I bought as a bunch of parts with a seized engine.
I've only been riding for 3 yrs, I'm 65. When I found those ranch roads where very few cars come I thought I found heaven.
Originally, I bought her to rebuild for my older brother, but he did not want it. So I offered it to my son...he did not want it either. So, since it was a restore project, (my first ) Idecided to put her back together while thinking if i wanted to chance riding her.
The day i started her i was hooked. She has some of my blood, sweat, anguish and tears on her. Who knows, maybe I'll have her buried by my side when I die.
I'm very pleased with what you said about me and Ole blue. You have done me proud.
If you ever git out to West Texas you can bunk at my casa.
You lifted my spirits today friend.
