Re: Dark sideing a Valkyrie
There was a time before I joined NGW I had no clue about going on the dark side with a MC.
Funny how I've learned a bit from this site.
Only thing I've given back is how not to work on yer bike.

Re: Dark sideing a Valkyrie
So if you run bias tires do you look for a bias rear or change to a radial up front? Can you even find a bias car tire?

Re: Dark sideing a Valkyrie
I've had a few different sizes on my Valkyrie IS.
Started with the much-recommended 205/65-16 (32psi), which requires removal of the nut cages and reversing the bolt heads so it doesn't rub those. It is also the closest to the OEM tire diameter.
I very much enjoyed wearing out a 195/55-16 (32psi), although it lowered the bike significantly, resulting in scraping pegs earlier than I liked. But boy oh boy did that effective lower gear ratio (higher numerically) wake that bike up. It was very quick off of the line, embarrassing many crotch rockets that thought I would fade in their mirrors. I'm talking wheelies and/or burning rubber if desired when being over enthusiastic with the right wrist.
I'm now wearing out my second Austone Taxi Tire (175R-16@45psi) which rides most like a motorcycle tire, but is taller than anything else that fits (kickstand lean angle>). I also hear (read) that Universal Tire Co. will no longer be selling these when their present stock is sold out. Very highly recommend that one for a first darkside. Buy one now!
