I had never seen a mag write up on the ltd until I found one on ebay some years back, being only 2 pages if I recall right ?

All I have to do now is find it in my maze of mags, because it's not where I put it for easy access.

Having owned an LTD and worked on another one I can tell you the welds look no different than any other Wing.
There has always speculation that the engines were blue printed but I don't think that was ever confirmed by Honda. The time to blue print an engine I would think would make that unlikely. Each one would have to be done so multiply that by the reported 3500 bikes made I don't see it. IMO

I too, have been asking for some type of documentation, and not just a "I heard it somewhere" for years. On the LTD site, and several GL1000 sites. I ordered the magazine, which is in "like new condition", and posted it on the GL1000LTD site last week. He had 5 copies available, iffen you wish one. For whatever difference it makes, at least it's a written word that some type of engine work was performed by Mother Honda. Most I have talked with definitely feel a smooth, balanced, and powerful different between the LTD, and others. Idle, mid range, and high RPMs....there is a difference!!

One thing is for sure, Honda put some extra love into these things. Whether strictly cosmetic or deeper, they are nicely turned machines.

I never knew how nice until I had the opportunity to work on JohnnyNumbers’ superb specimen.
