What I get asked to do.

Turn my dragbike back in to a "street" bike. okkkkkk

Install a factory wiring harness he supplied. Which needed some plugs replaced and other places "fixed". Add some new aftermarket controls. Add a headlight. Add a charging system. Add a starter, in this case a Honda starter that will turn the engine over. Unlike a stock KZ starter that doesn't have enough torque for the compression. Get the wiring working for brake lights and turn signals. He doesn't have those yet.

He put a Hyabusa front end and both front and rear Hyabusa wheels on it. You can see when going with wider rear rim even with a 5/8" offset front sprocket the wheel isn't centered. It will track straight. Thousands of them out there similar. It sets as high as I can get it without making longer struts. But the front would still be a bit low. We'll see how it works.

Engine is not big, 1105cc. It does have race port work done to the head and fairly big cams for the street. Should be a fun bike to ride. Just won't corner very well.

I did build the bike originally. It was a nice race bike.

cool bike, does the extended swingarm still swing?
is the engine tunable for the street? the gearing?

Back in the early 80's, I turned a Norton dragbike into a streetbike.
Raked steering, long hardtail swingarm, small tank, dragbars, etc.....
It wasn't very comfortable, but it looked cool!
I rode it from Dayton, Ohio to Daytona for bike week one year.
Probably one of the reason that my spine is so messed up today.

I gotta admit......
I must be a bit of a voyeur , because I really enjoy getting to catch a look into another guys shop.
I like seeing how others get it done.

Yeah, a man can never have too much solvent...(or door insulation).

Nice old build, Robin. I miss the good old "Z" days (and the GS days).

Swingarm does not move. It is what is known as a double club foot. It fits around the outside of the frame on both sides. Also the fact that it has struts and no shocks. ;)

This engine isn't radical. Should do fine on the street. Gearing will be determined once he starts riding it. Depends on if he wants to stay in town with the occasional quick blast. Or spend much time at highway speeds.

LOL, even left he will be leaning off of the bike to make a turn. But yeah, right hand turns will be worse.

It was how all of us "lowered and hardtailed" our bikes back in the day.
struts are cheap.

Could you just put a stock swingarm back in it?

Would never come close to fitting the Hyabusa wheel in a stock swingarm. It is a tight fit in this one. Left side spacer is only about 1/8" wide. Right side spacer is less than 1/2", just enough to hold the caliper bracket.

And, this is what the customer wants. :orange

It is possible to make another arm without the outside club foot pieces. That would allow it to pivot. But he already had this one.
