KG Saddlebags

Post by franchise2k »

I searched for KG saddle bags and most variations of the term, but I cannot find anything on these bags. Does anyone have any pics or information on these bags? Thanks for your help!

I didn't find much information on them myself. I have a set, they are in rough shape and did not come with all of the brackets to mount them on the bike. I looked for info on them several months ago and came up with next to nothing. I also have a top box to match and the luggage rack it latches onto. The luggage rack bolts on to the top shock bolts but it looks to me like it was not really bike specific to my gl1000, more of a universal fit. I am considering using the top box with the set of Hondaline bags I just got. I like the fact that it is easily removable leaving just the rack.

I'll have to take some better pictures of them. In the bottom pic I was trying to use a Kawasaki Nomad saddlebag bracket just to mock them up on the bike. It was not a success.

Thanks for the reply. You might want to look on eBay. There is a full set I was looking at getting, but I'm going full set of Hondaline from a member on here. If you're having bracket problems maybe these pics will help you. Those KGs actually look pretty cool 2tone painted. They are, aren't they? Kind of hard to tell from your pics.

Looking at yours I think they are too long for my bike anyways. I have the external fuel tanks on mine and I think the bags might actually be too close for my tastes.

If they were fixed up I think they would look great. Someone in the past did a great job dressing this bike out. The bags fairing and all were done in a real nice paint job. years of neglect and wear and tare have taken their toll. At some point someone did her right. I'm going to use the Honda bags I just bought and possibly the KG top box and rack. The box will come off when I'm not leaving town. The KG bags are actually fairly large in terms of storage. I'd probably consider saving them if they weren't so far gone. They are a lot worse than the pictures show. If I had a place to store them I'd be buying up Windjammers and saddlebags now while the trend is to take them off. The market for them is weak right now. In the past they were worth more and some day they may be again.

I'd love to have a set of those add on tanks! Those are in my opinion one of the coolest accessories ever made for these bikes.
