Well, my Grand Dad always referred to the car he was driving as Betsy. The name never changed although the car did. So in the tradition of my Grandpa... Betsy 1, Betsy 2, Betsy 3, Betsy 4, Betsy 5..... I currently have Betsy 9 (2016 GoldWing) and the LTD I’m restoring Betsy 10.

When I tell my wife I'm going for a ride she will often say "which bike?" To which I reply..."the red one" or blue, or white, or black, one because thats the easiest way for for her to tell them apart.

When I tell my wife "The CBX", she knows exactly which one I mean...no need to specify color or gender.

mine, at least the riders, all have gender neutral names.
but I do think of them as female. (and yes, anthropomorphize or not, I talk to them on occasion)
sorta bulldogged custom 1978 GL1000 - "geekster"
full Vetter dress 1979 GL1000 - "Barge" (currently down)
1986 1200 Aspencade - "Heart of Gold" - daily rider
1990 1500 Aspencade - It's ALIVE! but very, very naked. not in a good way.
1978 for $100 - project in worx
1978 from a previous member here - taking up space
my original '79 bought in '91 - replacing engine (eventually, maybe someday)

So now that she's dead (The Goddess is dead! Long Live the Goddess Athena!), I've got an 83 Suzuki GS1100ES.

She's still a she, though I haven't given'er a name....

She'll remain "The GS" or "The elven-hundred"...

PS: The results of the survey are very surprising to me; I honestly thought the majority would be female, but I was grossly mistaken! And that's ok. :)

I’ve got a tradition (obsession?) of naming all my vehicles after women in Grateful Dead songs. My 78 GL is Ramblin’ Rose... I also have a VW named Althea. For me, anthropomorphizing is an unavoidable part of the relationship. I get unhealthily attached to my stuff.

My Goldwings are female, but only online. I never refer to them by their names in real life. The 1200 is the Diva because she always gets what she wants, as opposed to what it needs. The 1100 is Lady Godiva. You can figure that one out.

In general, I don't name my vehicles, but I have bought two motorcycles that were already named by the prior owner and the names kinda stuck. I have a 2002 Harley V-Rod named Stella. I also have a 2007 BMW R1200RT named Sigrid in honor of it's prior owner who died of cancer.

My wife has named all three of her bikes. All female. 2008 Honda 250 Nighthawk (that she learned to ride on), is named Bett, a 1992 BMW K75 named Bella, and a 2018 BMW G310R she named Bianca.
