my pants may fall down but..

I won't lose this.

Due to my plans to build a bagger out of my 76..I wanted to keep my 82 standard as stock as possible. However not having anywhere to put a sweater, jacket liner, tools, etc was very inconvenient.

I looked at a lot of "throw over" saddle bags online and even tried the ones off my wifes shadow but I didn't want to get in to adding brackets, etc. I wanted something I could put on for a trip then take off.
And I found this..https://fortnine.ca/en/saddlemen-ts1620 ... l-tail-bag

Very reasonable price and looked big enough for what I wanted.

It arrived today and I got to installing it and discovered my first issue. These bags are designed more for the solo style seat and where mine is a 2 up..the mounting pad wouldn't sit flat on the seat, plus I was concerned the bag might not fasten to the pad because of it. The pad has velcro on it.

So..looking around the garage I determined I had the supplies needed to deal with this. A piece of 1/4 sub floor, some memory foam and some extra black material from a headliner kit I installed in the camaro.
This is temporary as the material is not designed to be exposed to the elements. I will redo it with some black vinyl.
Being the "professional" upholster I am..I whipped this thing up..lol

Fortunately for me, the bag hides it. The next problem I ran into was..the d ring straps supplied with the bag were to short. So..I tried the belt I was wearing through the loops on the mounting plate and it fit. Fortunately for me, I had another belt in the house. this is just temporary. I have a friend that does leather work and I'm going to get him to make me some straps that are long enough.
And my shorts haven't fallen down yet.

Here it is all fastened on. It looks very well made, has ample storage for what I need and doesn't look bad on the bike.

I think that is what they are designed for. this one is for seats 12" wide and narrower.
they make one for seats I think 9" wide as well.
I like that it doesn't take much to remove and I can put it on the 76 as well.

that always struck me as odd about a HD... the drivers seat INCREDIBLY comfortable, the passenger, just a narrow pillon

my wife's 2002 shadow is the same. Nice comfortable seat for the driver..a padded postage stamp for the passenger.
