I have finally found the time to play with my project BSA thumper dirtbike.
It has the original "Energy Transfer" ignition setup (mag, points, coil, plug). No battery.
Yes, this motorcycle has a reputation for breaking ankles and throwing guys over the handlebars.
It is definitely not a bike for wussies, but if set up correctly, they can start pretty easily.
It's an old bike.....
what it lacks in brakes and suspension, it more than makes up for with noise, smoke and vibration.
I have wanted to try my hand at making a youtube video so I pulled out the bike and camera and made this
video today.
Here Ya Go......Give it a look:

It's a 1967 441 B44 Victor that started life with lights, gauges, passenger pegs, etc...1967 BSA Victor 441 - check out the video

Nice work there...great bike...I learned to ride on a '69 441. Compression release gave me fits and every now and then my right knee still aches a little

A buddy had one. I will always remember that orange/chrome paint job. Did your rings settle in?

Not yet, but they'll be fine.
I took the video just yesterday afternoon and then parked the bike.
It still has it's break in oil in it, and I've only actually heated it up once and I haven't
re-torqued the head or adjusted anything yet.
A work in progress.

Great machine. A motorcycle distilled down to the lowest denominator. You gotta clear the compression before kicking it over. Danged Limeys. (I love them).
Nice project.

Used to ride with a fella that had a old twin beeezer. He road that noisey loud bike everywhere back in the late 70’s. Cool bike you have.

UPDATE / RANT:
In an effort to complete my racing project, In the past 2 weeks, have listed this bike TWICE on ebay.
Both times the winning bidder was unable/unwilling to complete the transaction, in effect...... wasting my time!
This was my first (and last) attempt to sell a motorcycle on ebay.
I honestly thought that it would be smoother than dealing with all of the crazy people on craigslist,
but....... I was wrong.

There is a reason they call them thumpers.
