Not naked by any means, but a nice bike found me
A former student in building trades called me the other day and just insisted that I see a 1984 1200 Aspencade. The bike is as nice as I have seen for its age and 90xxx on the clock. The only thing we could find wrong was the air compressor was not running.
This week is busy with medical appointments, but you guys need to see this motorcycle. A lovely example of a well loved bike. I will take some pictures once I get it

Re: Not naked by any means, but a nice bike found me
Driving me nuts a little. Paid for the bike and seller put the date of sale on the title one day later by mistake. When i went to the DMV to get it recorded, i saw that and just went home instead.
The buddy who was gonna take me to the bike to ride it home will not be available due to the delay in getting license plates. I just might trailer it home. That is,after I get back home from family business.

Re: Not naked by any means, but a nice bike found me
I finally took it for a serious ride today. I went to the Cushman show in Portland IN, and it is indeed a superior road bike.
Once i got there, the show is spread out over a large area and I got tired of walking.Bikes are allowed everywhere at the show. which is pretty surprising, but welcome in my mind. Everyone else is on 100 cc or less or in 4 wheel carts, but the big Aspy was able to crawl along at a very slow walking pace once I got in the zone. Actually easier than some of my smaller bikes.
I made some nice executions in some of the curves, but really need to relax in some of the others. It's all about trusting the motorcycle. Rolled 150 miles at exactly 40 MPG.

Grand daughter and I were there yesterday. Saw a guy on an 1100 cruising the area. We were on our minute miser. It is a lot of walking. Nice to have something to ride around on. Gott say though the swap meet was a bit down on people, vendors and buyers, when we were there compared to other years.raiddrten wrote:I finally took it for a serious ride today. Re: Not naked by any means, but a nice bike found me
I did not see nearly as many Cushmans. So many of the displays old bicycles and junk ones at that. Maybe the Hipster craze is driving that? Some of the old Cushman guys are not so happy about the way things are going, but when you look at the cost of a Cushman, the price of the hobby being a mini bike that exceeds the price of many GoldWings might be the cause of that problem.
I would have liked to meet you, Robin. Just to say hi.
I saw Tim Gross out on the street with his sons. One son was on a tiny Italian Harley -- a nice restomod. Tim is "Taryl" of Taryl fixes all on YouTube. I really enjoy his stuff as it is the best detailed lawn mower repair site I have seen, but be warned that it is an acquired taste.
