Go Granny Go!!

#1

Post by Solina Dave »

This is a picture of me and granny, my mom's mom, over for a visit from Blackpool, England. This is 1977 and my first bike, a '77 Honda CB550F Super Sport. She was 86 years old, and one of the feistiest people I ever knew. She lived to be 97 years old. One time, when she was 88 years old, she was re-shingling her roof, and fell off the ladder and broke her arm. :IDTS:
That was a great bike. I rode it to Calgary and back, that summer. That told me that it was too small for me, and what I wanted, so when I got home, I bought my '78 Wing. The rest is history!

Ride safe, and live it up!!.......................... anim-cheers1 Dave

This is a pic of me and my father inlaw a couple years ago. He was battling cancer and at the time and I had a sinking feeling that if him and I were going to do something fun (stupid) then now was the time to do it while he was still able to get on the bike. We had a nice leisurely ride but there was one stretch of road were I threw caution to the wind and took the 750 up to 100mph just so he could say that he did. As I wound the 750 up I could hear him on the back saying "uh oh" and away we went. This was his first time on a bike in decades and we had a blast and when I posted the pic on FB his cell phone went nuts with friends and family calling him saying "did you really......?" and his response was "H++L YEAH I did!!" My gut feeling turned out to be correct because he passed later that summer.

Actually mines a 77 which is pretty much the same as the 78 in fact I'm not sure what is different between the 2 years.
