Don Vesco Rabid transit vs Vetter

#1

Post by DUGG »

I wondering how the Rabid transit fairing compares to the Vetter windjammer as far as wind protection. The Rabid transit is much cooler looking by far.

I guess I've asked a question no one knows the answer to. Maybe I need to reword it. Does anyone who has used a Don Vesco on any bike have an opinion on how well they work.
Most of my riding is local, but I do a couple of longer weekend trips 500-1000 mi.Those trips are two up touring with the wife.

I want to say a fella in MN has one on a yellow 76...His username is markwelna.

Perhaps you could message him in case he isn't active at the moment.

If you look at the bottom of your thread, you will find Mark's build thead, as well as a couple more threads about the fairing in question.

Another issue is where do you find the Vesco fairing. To my knowledge, they are only slightly more rare than hen's teeth. Lot's of Vetter's to be found out there, but Vesco's not so much.

One in this link on a 76 yellow GL.

I sold an Nos Pichler fairing years ago to a buddy who mounted it on his 76.

That is the bike that brought the Vesco to my attention. Very sporty looking. I currently have Vetter, but it is cracking and failing around the right rear mounting hole. So I either repair it, or replace it. If I'm going to go to all the trouble of sanding down, repainting and new decals I thought maybe I would try to find a Vesco. I've seen a couple on epay, the one currently on there is priced ok, but no shipping. I don't understand way people post something to a national sale site, but won't ship. Why not just put it on CL?

One of my concerns it that I would need to install lower bars and how that would effect two up touring.

Needs work, but looks to be all there. Mounting hardware is for a Beamer so you'd have to modify the brackets.

That is the one I was referring to. Local pick up only though. So unless I can convince him to ship it or find someone on here to pick it up and ship it, it's a no go.

I believe Vesco used windjammer brackets. Hannagan too, they were like Vesco's.
