But coming off a naked wing it's huge difference. Also for me, at 5'10 the 1300 is so tall. Even with a Corbin seat on it. I've dropped it twice now. I think foot pegs from an 1800 wing will fit and they are lower, motorcycle larry sells the peg lowering kitRAT wrote:I'm on my first real road trip on mine, its a 2001 1100 and so far the heat is not a deal breaker .... the riding position has my (long) legs bent pretty sharply at the (wonky) knees and that might become a deal breaker .... time in the saddle will tell .... apparently there is a kit available to lower the pegs a bit .... that and a pad to raise the seat a bit might fix it

I wish I could lower the seat. It has a Corbin on it. I could put the stock seat on it, but I've read that the Corbin is lower than the stock seat set at lowest setting, but I haven't tried it.detdrbuzzard wrote:have you adjusted the seat heightGowing wrote:I've put 2500 miles on my new to me st1300. the 1300 is considered to be a full faired bike. Re: ST1100
with 10,000 miles on the clock it's time for a new set of tires on the mighty ST 1300, due for an oil change too. ordered the police light brackets for the ST1100 and a few other parts but I need to have the fork seals replaced and a rear shock. I have a works performance shock that needs a rebuild but I can't get a reply from them. I plan to have tires on the mighty ST 1300 by the end of the week

you don't need the MCL brackets with the Goldwing pegs, the wing pegs are lower without any other modsRAT wrote:Thanks, I'll try that when I get home ....

Re: St1100
Dave, on lowering, is it so you can flat foot the bike at stop lights etc.? or is it to get lower behind the screen? Reason I ask is coz my ST has the Corbin on it but it also has a shorter rear shock than stock fitted by the previous owner and it sits about a half to three quarter inch lower. Pain in the butt for me coz it's fallen off the kick stand once before when it wasn't on dead level ground and it's almost impossible to get on the center stand without a 4x2 under the rear tire!Gowing wrote:I wish I could lower the seat. I'm looking to revert back to the standard rear shock when funds permit...

I found a set of adjustable pegs on e bay. Got them today. Look like they'll work. I'll post a pick when I get them installed.

Hi dean,
Short shock on your 1300, I haven't looked into how to lower, cause I have learned to get on and off it.
That's my problem, getting on the darn thing. Not concerned about windshield height.

Re: ST1100
I'm 5' 11" and still have issues getting on the ST1300 in the morning (getting old and stiff). I adopted the practice that I preach to my passenger: On the sidestand, stand on the left peg with your left foot and ease the right leg over from that perch. I "help" by guiding my right foot with my hand on my shin. Mine is worsened by the top box preventing a right leg "swing" over the seat (from the ground).Gowing wrote:Hi dean,

Re: ST1100
Yep, I have nightmares about being pinned under that bike. While people walk by and not helping get me out from under it. It's tough and seems to be getting tougher. But I swear I left a stoplight through second gear with the front wheel six inches off the ground the whole way. Blew my mind and the doors off a kid in his V-6 Honda that had been spinning his wheels light after light next to me. I immediately took her home and hid in the garage after that. Stupid riding but fun.

Pics They're OK, not as strong as the stock pegs and being lower the shifter and the brake positions are off. Adjusted the shifter as far as it would go but its still higher than I'd like relative to the footpegRAT wrote:I found a set of adjustable pegs on e bay. Got them today. Look like they'll work. you'll just have to have your legs shortened. you don't need to be that tall anyway.
