MSF MC Training this week

#1

Post by 77Gowing »

Just finished my online segment of the MSF MC safety training.
My son & I will be taking the class room and course training starting this Friday. I've already taken this training three times and succeeded once. But my son needs to get his endorsement before I turn him loose on my new Indian. My son and I have not done much in the bonding area since I married his mother 33 years ago. So now, we are going to catch up and have some fun. When he was young I was always kicking him in the rearend to get through school, while I was getting myself through school.
I cannot turn back time, but I can make good with the time he & I have left. He's a good man.

Always enjoy your time with your son while you can. I had a fallout with my son a few years ago, and only made up since I've been with Karen, who treats both my kids as if they were her own. My son has never shown an interest in bikes, but I take my daughter on the back when I can, she loves it!

Previous Rides,
1980 CB250N Good to learn on
1981 CX500 good mid range tourer, went to Austria on it!
1983 GL1100C Pride and joy, sold when I bought my 1st house, big mistake
1985 GL650 Silverwing another mistake, horrible bike
1986 CBX550 Good commuter
1989 Suzuki GS750 (1976) cheap and cheerful until a dog ran out in front of me on Xmas Eve, 1991
Current bikes
2010 CB1300 back on a bike after 19 years, two divorces, children grown up etc
1980 GL1100 NOW ON THE ROAD, still use CB1300.

I got a lot out of the MSF training that I took. It was a 2 day course and worth every penny. I spent a couple of months getting my '78 gl1000 running and riding it around the neighborhood and church parking lots before I took the course. I think that help me quite a bit because I had never ridden a motorcycle before and I wasn't as nervous when I got on their bikes during the testing.
I think this would be a good way to get involved with your son again. I'm assuming he's in his 30's now and should be mature enough to appreciate it more. People change attitudes change.
Also I can't help but notice you have a 1942 type 34 perishing tank!
1978 gl1000 Not Nice bike.

Taking 10 minutes every day to use the bathroom at work is equal to one week's vacation.

I don't actually have the tank, but me & my crew rebuilt it. Note it is the only electric drive Pershing in existence today

I'm attending a 2 day course in a week and a half. Considering it is supposed to be 110*, I'm glad I've at least got a DOT certified dirt helmet that I can wear. Few things are as bad as stewing in someone elses juices.
