One header Warm, the other Cold

Hey everyone!
Well, my motorcycle has been acting funny after i had to to take the carbs off for a bit. It wasn't able to hold the idle like it should and kept dying on me. I have a laser thermometer and when the bike was running, the front header would increase in temp. 200, 300, and so on; but the rear was barely hitting 100 degrees Fahrenheit. What is the issue?? I'm thinking the fuel jet for that rear carb might not be working properly? Thank you in advance! anim-cheers1

Sounds like a blocked jet. When I first got my bike, I could put my bare hand on one pipe while the others were hot. Had a go at cleaning the carbs myself and it improved, but then got them professionally cleaned to get them even better. On mine (1980 1100) the jets are pressed in but are possible to remove by inserting a screw and levering them out, so thinking of replacing them.

Four pipes. Are the rear pipes on both sides cooler or just the rear pipe on one side? One could point to a carb issue. The other to a possible ignition issue.

It is actually BOTH the rear pipes on each side that are remaining cold. Spark plug issue??

Could be your coil for 3/4..miss firing look at eh plugs are they wet/fouled black/sooty??? Pull the plug wires add a plug and check for spark..or you could swap some wires around and swap wires to the plugs and see if the issue follows. requires swapping some wires on the coils.

You could swap the plugs to see if that helps. You do get dud plugs more often that you'd think, but I think you are unlucky to have two failures. Also check the plug gaps and the condition (oily, sooty, clean).

Both rear pipes (one on each side) suggests an ignition issue, as Robin said above. Quickest way to check is to pull each plug wire while the engine is running. You should notice a drop in the RPM's inn the good cylinders, and it would be less noticeable inn the poor running ones. You can also often hear the spark 'snap' across the gap if you have good good spark.
