As for the sidecar, Hannigans are pretty well made and all that so if it doesn't look like it has been winter driven (you can't see rust inside the tubes) and it is mounted properly it is probably OK. Hannigan makes mounting kits to specific to the 1500 but that doesn't guarantee that someone didn't modify mounts made for a different bike to fit and stories surface from time to time about dumb stuff like a sidecar strut attached to a crash bar instead of the frame...
