USDF is on the Wing

#1

Post by Figor »

Spent Saturday putting a 94 gsxr750 front end on my chicken wing. Went pretty smoothly. I made a longer steering stem on the lathe last week and it fit up well. I had a few test rides down the road and I like the improvements. Better brakes and I’ve been playing around with the settings getting it dialed in. Heavier springs would probably help. Maybe down the road. I can live with it the way it is now. It’s leaps and bounds better then before. Now I just have to make or buy some headlight brackets and sort out the wiring. Who knew 50mm brackets were rare? Lol. At least the cheap versions.

Without pictures it did not happen. They are worth thousands of words. Hope you got a picture of that longer steering stem too. Sounds like a great setup.

Sorry guys I was at work and can only get a 4g signal there. Couldn’t post a pic for some reason. I think the company is jamming our frequencies to keep people off their phones. Here’s a pic.

Hmm that didn’t go well either.

On another note: would anyone happen to know why I am no longer allowed to use the search function? That’s what it keeps telling me when I search for something. I also have to log back in after every post. There’s some weird stuff going on here.

I need to get info on swingarm bushings and bearings but can’t search. Google shows needling bearings held in place with bushings but most bearing suppliers show taper bearings? Head scratcher.

My bike has a very hard ride on rough pavement and I keep hearing what sounds like the swingarm knocking. I have new shocks on order so once I get this installed I can eliminate them. I think it’s the swingarm though. If I can get new bearings and bushings I’ll just do it when I do the shocks. Need a new rear tire too. Might as well paint the rim blue while I’m at it.

Agree that now is the time to paint the rear rim. Stange regarding the search, an admin will need to offer advice on that.

How do I contact an administrator? Can’t seem to find a link.

Anyway I got the rear shocks on today. I was surprised at the ride. It wasn’t bad. Better then the 40yo stockers. I don’t know how well they will hold up though. I’ll see.

Nobody loves there 45 year old shocks so glad you found some that work. What brand did you choose? Sure must be nice to have that fork on the front.

There are no restrictions on your account so the search function should work.

RFY brand off Amazon. Yes the front end seems pretty nice. I haven’t been able to ride it much because I can’t find any headlight brackets that fit a 50mm fork. I was going to make some at work tonight but our bandsaw broke and I can’t cut any material.
