Re: NOOB AT WIRING WITH A FEW QUESTIONS
I was a noob at wiring too until I fried my wiring harness because PO took out the main fuse. (My bad I should've known that) Googling how to read a wiring diagram, downloading the colorized diagram on this site helped a lot. I ended up getting a used harness off ebay and after lots of testing and replacing connectors, it works great.

Re: NOOB AT WIRING WITH A FEW QUESTIONS
The first picture shows the point leads plugged into the two dual female connectors (one of my dual connector boots on my '78 was melted and I replaced it with the black shrink tubing boot). The second shows one of these dual female connectors as new. The third shows the boot that the dual female connectors may be in. The other wires in each connector are from the two ends of the condenser, which should be mounted under the rectifier on the front of the battery box.

Re: NOOB AT WIRING WITH A FEW QUESTIONS
I expect that the wires that don't match have to do with the electronic ignition. The instruction sheet for it should tell you where those go. You may also have some plain black wires from the turn signals (they originally had heat shrink to indicate the colour they plugged with but 44 years is a long time).
BTW: There is no such thing as a "ballistor" (at least in ignition systems - apparently there is a recycling sorting machine called "Ballistor"). The part you circled n that pic is a ballast resistor. Its job is to act as a series voltage drop so that the coils only receive about 7V during normal operation; It is bypassed while the Start button is pressed so that the coils get enough voltage while the starter motor is running because the starter loads the system and pulls the voltage down to well below 12V.
