Clutch lever bolt

Having a problem removing the pivot bolt for the clutch lever. Removed the nut on the bottom, soaked with penetrating oil, hit with an impact and no dice. Anyone else had this problem and how did you resolve it?

is there pressure on the bolt from the lever?.... or does it actual screw out?

The bolt screws out. I resolved my issue by using a different perch and lever, lol!

I do have a spare but the bolt on that one is very tight also. Guess the grip has to come off to replace it.

Finally got it to break loose. Had to dremel the slot and beat on it with a impact. Don't know why anyone would put a pivot bolt in so tight.

A lot of people don't understand that the torque that should be applied to a fastener depends on the size of the fastener. Combine that with the fact that the handles in most socket sets are really only suitable for the largest 2 or 3 sockets (there is no reason to ever tighten up an M6 fastener with a 10" long handle) and you have a recipe for overtightened & often stripped or broken off fasteners.
FWIW, in my shop the rule is that sockets are only for removing fasteners and that, as often as possible (unless a torque wrench is called for or the socket is the only way to reach the nut/bolt), combination wrenches or box end wrenches are always used for doing things up. The idea is that a smaller wrench should be shorter because it takes less torque to snap smaller bolts.

I have one in the same shape. Also decided to just pick up another off ebay. I think maybe they believe they can tighten a floppy lever by tightening that bolt instead of boring and sleeving the lever. Newer GLs are sleeved.

Corrosion/ dissimilar metals also plays a part. I got lucky on the last one I had to mess with. It snapped off right where the threads started, and I got the threaded part out from the bottom after soaking in PB Blaster...
