76 gl bearing squeal fakeout.

#1

Post by Don R »

I got my brothers 76 running again today and when it started it had an awful squeal from the front. RPM related but more than I knew. We decided it must be a timing belt idler and proceeded to look up the parts for an update. Later, I started it again and noticed it seemed high, I removed the tach cable and,,, no noise. I couldn't believe a tach could be that loud and still work.
