Can someone tell me what the proper torque value is for the four 8x32 hex-head bolts that retain the handlebar on a '78 GL? And where can I find that information?
Thanks............ ...Dave

Re: Handlebar Bolt Torque
You can disregard this question. I think I found my answer on pg.23 of my shop manual. It's 13-18 ft. lbs.Solina Dave wrote:Can someone tell me what the proper torque value is for the four 8x32 hex-head bolts that retain the handlebar on a '78 GL? And where can I find that information?

Re: Handlebar Bolt Torque
I don't know if that manual text also mentioned it is a best practice to tighten the 2 frontmost capscrews to totally eliminate the gap between the top clamp and the handlebar cradle , first, before torqueing the 2 capscrews closest to the seated rider?

Re: Handlebar Bolt Torque
Thanks Cliff. There's not much detail in the Honda manual, but I did see that mentioned on a YouTube clip earlier. That seems to make sense.......gltriker wrote:I don't know if that manual text also mentioned it is a best practice to tighten the 2 frontmost capscrews to totally eliminate the gap between the top clamp and the handlebar cradle , first, before torqueing the 2 capscrews closest to the seated rider?

Re: Handlebar Bolt Torque
If it is not mentioned in the steering section, look uptorque by bolt size in the general information section.
