After seeing all the improvements on the 1200, it makes me want to go out and buy one. Lots of stuff to make it smoother, quieter, and easier to ride and maintain, but the first item listed has me confused. (1:10 in the video) The engine mount angle was changed to raise the cylinder. What does that do?

I DID always wonder about that angle on the 1200 engine...
1997 Valkyrie- Light Cutomization, but Too Busy Riding
1980 KZ1300- Bike's Haunted
1976 GL1000 (Yellow)- It Runs (Poorly) and Doesn't Leak (Mostly)
1974 Velosolex 3800- Better Than Walking
1972 CB750- Broke the Chain And Ate the Motor
1969 CT90- The Most Fun You Can Have on 90ccs.
1965 CA77 Dream- Needs a Full Teardown, but Complete

All advice I give is only valid until an expert corrects me.

Interesting. I don’t recall and didn’t know the engine angle changed either. Maybe to offset the wider block.
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

If you ever hear a 1200 with a deceleration engine rattle like gears clacking together, it's a bad alternator damper mechanism.

I bought a 84 1200 late last year that turns out to be a very clean standard that someone added the Honda bags, topcase and a Vetter fairing all painted the wine berry to match. My original intent was to use it to build my 78 into a 1200 hot rod with 75 heads, cams and a single carb or fuel injection.

But thus bike is just beautiful, very clean and just runs perfectly, so now am thinking of stripping the fairing and topcase off, leave the bags and take it back to a “standard” bagger if you will. Doesn’t need much (headlight and turn Signals). And then maybe start the search for a suitable candidate to make the 78. This 84 standard is just to nice to gut..

I agree with you passx - there are just too many bikes without titles with decent engines to ruin the survivors.

I recall that the angle of the engine in the frame was angled just for more ground clearance.
Great to keep these old 'Wings flying on down the road.
