Re: Balancing Act
The guy who always sold and mounted the inexpensive tires I used to buy didn't think the rear needed to be balanced at all and only balanced the front if you asked him to. The guy I bought my "premium" tires from sent the front tire back to the distributor for replacement because he felt like it required too much weight to balance.

Re: Balancing Act
I purchased a few different sized cones from no-mar (to fit different bike wheels), some bar stock from the local hardware store (1/2" I think) and a couple of bearings off eBay with the proper inside diameter. I believe my total investment, not including a couple of jack stands I already had, was about $15 -$20rcmatt007 wrote:what I meant (beside the beads) was where did people get the tool to balance their tires
I built this about 15 years ago and still use it today.

Re: Balancing Act
I just use the little flat bar stock saved from other rims and some fresh 2 sided tape. Couple jack stands and smooth running bearings and play with it.

Re: Balancing Act
OK, we've got two pages of the necessity/benefit of balancing motorcycle tires, now let's move onto the necessity/balancing of Dynamic balancing compared to Static balancing. And then onto Road Force balancing and match mounting.
