GL1100 Front Master Cylinder Rebuild
I'm having trouble with my front calipers sticking and I'm guessing it's the master cylinder spooge hole. I did a rebuild job years back and I seem to remember a good write up on a GL1100 front master cylinder rebuild on this site. But I'm not seeing it. Any help appreciated.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: GL1100 Front Master Cylinder Rebuild
Here's a YouTube video showing how to rebuild one for a CB1100F: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6YSldW85ioI
The masters may look different, but the procedure itself is pretty much the same.

Re: GL1100 Front Master Cylinder Rebuild
Could be the return hole. Could also be broken down rubber brakes hoses. Are they new?

Re: GL1100 Front Master Cylinder Rebuild
Nope - not new. I just cleaned everything out and will give it a try later today. I could see light through the spooge hole so it looks clear. Hoses are original AFIK. Thanks for the help.

Re: GL1100 Front Master Cylinder Rebuild
Looks like my issue is may be the calipers - on closer inspections, the pistons have leaked and crusted a bit and caliper walls have some crud as well.
Ordered the kits and will get them cleaned ready for install. I'll see if that fixes it - holding off on the hoses for now.

Re: GL1100 Front Master Cylinder Rebuild
Just rebuilt my whole system, didn't waste time trying to rebuild my master(it was in bad shape) just bought a new one off of ebay, combine that with stainless steel lines and one new to me used caliper and I was good to go. One of my calipers just wouldn't rebuild without leaking, so I had to source a replacement
Apex makes good inexpensive SS lines if you need them, I also got rid of the splitter and ran a double banjo off the master

That's the master cylinder I bought worked like a charm, and looks better than stock to boot while keeping the vintage vibe, at only 28 bucks almost as cheap as a rebuild kit for something you can just slap on
