I have had to clean the idle jet in my 764A carbs four times in four weeks. It keeps getting plugged with a darkish almost black residue. I believe number 2 is at the end of the line from the entrance into the fuel passage of the plenum. Once there was a small amount of residue in the bowl. I could squeeze it in my fingers and it was pretty smooth, not gritty.
I’m guessing I have fuel lines deteriorating.
Anything else come to mind?
Thanks in advance,
My fuel filter is clean as a whistle.

Diaphragm in the fuel pump as well.

If fuel filter is between the tank and the pump, I would agree. Or the lines on the pumpSagebrush wrote:Diaphragm in the fuel pump as well.

Re: Black particles in number two carb.
Might as well put new lines on everywhere, not that expensive. Pump diaphragm was good last summer and pumping plenty when I checked a month or so ago.
Thanks for the suggestions.
