Is that a hole into the block below the end of the cross pipe,or is it an optical illusion? Looks like something came up out of the block and broke through the water piping from the bottom up to me.

Yep. Just saw that as I kept going. It’s definitely something shot through the case. This bike is toast. Pretty sure I can part it out for about what I paid for it though.

Too bad. Motors are fairly easy to find - but prices are all over the map. Don't necessarily have to scrap the whole bike.

Looks like a rod broke loose and punched up. You can see the collapsed water pipe being punched from below. Bummer.

Dang, you're going to get a replacement motor, right?

I don’t think so. Not unless one of you can point me towards a motor for sale near MN. I don’t know how involved an engine swap would be, but I imagine I’m half way to getting this engine out anyways, so if it’s convenient I would consider swapping an engine. But I’m a bit wary of buying an engine in an unknown condition.

Not saying that it couldn’t happen, but there are thousands of old wings running transplanted motors. I did it on my first GL build. These motors are well known for going 100k miles with nothing more than normal maintenance. I can understand you are a bit gun shy right now, but if the rest of the beast is decent, you should be able to find a donor close by.
