)pilot screws and float level

#1

Post by Boxeerman »

Reset my pilot screws to 1 1/2 turns out and still a little rich. Bike much better with air filter cover removed tried another 1/4 turn out and not happy, turned back in 3 /8 and very strong. So now at 1 3/8 turn out without filter cover and she is a rocket. This setting seems contrary to what I would expect with idle drop procedure...... might this indicate gas level in float bowl is higher than proper spec . Bike seems to be running very well but I have not had carbs off to check float settings.

Randall reckons the idle mixture screws are not precision items and what I've seen bears that out. I have one cylinder that pops and farts at idle 'til I opened it up an extra full turn. Then everything is smooth and mellow. The rest are set at the recommended opening (don't remember the numbers here).
