Temperature Sender thread size GL1000

#1

Post by TBM »

Does anyone have a definitive size for the Temperature sender?

I'm fitting a Durite gauge in a custom build and the Durite has a 1/8" NPTF sender. In an ideal world it'll bolt straight in, but I imagine I'll need an adaptor.

Thank you,

Phil

Did you measure the threads on the OEM sending unit you removed? I put an aftermarket gauge in from the auto parts store. Just used one of the adaptors that came with the gauge.

No, haven't removed it yet - ideally wanted to have it out and new one in at the same time. :)

Any idea what size adapter you used?

I 'think' it may be M16 x 1.5

I'll have to whip it out and measure.

Yep, for future reference purposes I can confirm that the standard temperature sender for a GL1000 has an M16 x 1.5 thread.

Thankfully a pretty standard size so there a plenty of DURITE adaptors available.

I bought an Autometer gauge of my Wing, and no adapter worked. What i did was drill the guts out of the oem sending unit, and tapped the inside of it for the Auto Meter sending unit.
