Not familiar with K & S. I know there are a lot of aftermarket points out there that the rubbing block is too short on to allow a good setting.
Octane did a bit about it here https://www.ngwclub.com/forum/viewtopic ... 830#p52830

If you can find a set of early Honda CB450 Black bomber points they are a good fit for the GL1000 and double sprung. I found a NOS set on EBay when I was doing the 1976 build and they worked well in both fit, timing set up and performance.

Here's a NOS set of FEW brand Japanese aftermarket ones on EBay for a good price. Listing 382266929533 about $15 US for the set.
Current Bikes:

1966 CL77 - Honda 305cc - Dual purpose - "Gentleman's Scrambler" was a period moniker.
1967 CL175K0 - Low production number with #802 engine serial- winter 2019/2020 full restoration.
1972 CB350F - Baby Four with low mileage - Cosmetic refresh to the next level 2021/2022.
1978 CB550K - Very original bike with only 7499 Km. from new - light cleanup and refresh done.
1983 CB1100F - Canadian model - DOHC Supersport in pristine low kilometre condition from new.
1984 GL1200 - Standard model in showroom condition - two owner bike from new.
1984 CX650E - Restored summer 2017 - a rare Eurosport model - excellent one owner bike.

Not all that long ago you could buy the loaded TEC plate from Honda cheaper than two sets of points. Even on a 750 with condensers.

In my experience points made in Japan result in the best fit and performance. If the ad doesn't say made in Japan, they are probably made in China and quality varies wildly. I had a set of Chinese points on a CL350 and one set only lasted 5 miles! The vendor quickly replaced that set and I've been happy ever since.

One tip is to be sure and lube the cam with light grease to keep rubbing block wear to a minimum. Not sure on the GL1000 but most points have a lubricating felt that rubs on the points cam. Apply a light grease to that felt.
