1982 Aspencade spark plug wire - copper core or suppression core?

#1

Post by freedom »

I am building my own spark plug set. I will be using the Dodge Neon ignition coil and was wondering which wire would be best - copper core or suppression?

Which wire would be best for the original ignition coil?

Thanks

I'd go for solid copper core. You don't have any sensitive digital electronics. And, if you're worried about RFI, you could always run resistor plugs. I don't. And the spark at the gap is very happy.

Yeah I don't plan on keeping the radio and it doesn't have any other digital electronics. However I want to know what the difference would be between the two types of wire. Has anyone tried using the suppression core wire? How did it work out?

I would want to consider the duration of the spark as well as how strong it is.

I use copper with the stock NGK's. The caps have a resistor in them.
All seems well years later.

I changed my 1100 to the neon coils and used new copper core plug wires as well as new NKG caps and new stock plugs. The performance difference was amazing. My old coils and wires would act up whenever they got wet indicating they were compromised. I had aftermarket electronics and with this setup I didn't have much in the way of interference.
